Businesses, governments, and university research teams are increasingly turning to general-purpose cluster, grid, or cloud infrastructures to support high performance computing requirements.  Grids and clouds created to support specific large-scale research and analytics are consistently memory constrained.  RNAcache eliminates the memory limitation of high performance systems while extending the life of existing infrastructures.

RNAcache vs. Alternatives

SMP and global shared memory systems are often considered to improve HPC performance, but these carry significant operational overhead or fixed limits on the number of servers that can be connected.  Further, expanding addressable space often imposes implications on the application or OS.

Faster storage is still 1000X slower than RNAcache. Even SSD is still 10X slower than RNAcache, and not a shared resource. Neither alternative provides the desired benefit of more high speed memory to keep applications computing.
