Introducing Memory Virtualization

Many of the most common data center problems can be traced back to a memory challenge: either too little memory or, all too often, not having memory in the right place. Through memory virtualization, RNA MVX takes on the memory challenge in two ways: it makes servers look bigger and storage go faster. The results: applications can immediately run faster on standard infrastructure with improvements of up to 25X.

Data center resources are being challenged by exponentially growing data and increasing server virtualization. These trends are creating huge demands for more memory in servers and more cache memory in storage. Most data centers cannot afford the twin build-out of both storage and servers, but still must find a way to deliver the performance demanded by data-intensive businesses in a way that is cost effective. RNA Network’s memory virtualization provides an immediate and practical solution.

MVX Memory Cloud

MVX

RNA MVX aggregates memory across physical servers into a shared, distributed memory service – a private memory cloud. This memory can then be used by applications to extend server memory and speed up storage. With memory virtualization, applications become less dependent on data center infrastructure to achieve requirements for speed and throughput. IT application managers can dial-up the appropriate server memory capacity and storage performance needed for the application. By allowing applications to operate on large active data sets entirely in RAM, RNA MVX dramatically accelerates applications and delivers new models for creating business value with existing IT infrastructure.

MVX is a software solution and, like other forms of virtualization, is totally transparent to applications. Applications can use the memory cloud resources to extend server memory, accelerate storage, or provide ultra high-speed storage in the compute tier, all without any code changes or application modification. This flexibility to tackle the top memory and storage problems gives application managers new capabilities to manage capacity, QoS and performance. Applications are now less dependent on existing infrastructure to achieve performance goals.
