MVX

MVX private cloud technology creates a large distributed memory service -
a Memory Cloud - from RAM in existing servers
Businesses employ data intensive applications to create competitive advantage. The combination of mission critical applications and ever-expanding data assets presents continual technological challenges. RNA MVX delivers a ground-breaking solution that fundamentally accelerates data intensive applications using existing data center servers and networks. MVX software decouples memory from servers to create a shareable, distributed and elastic resource – a Memory Cloud - enabling data intensive applications to deliver faster results and greater business value.
Problems MVX Solves
The versatility of MVX benefits a broad range of business and vertical applications:
- Analytics, Simulation, and Risk Assessment that require large amounts of data
- High Volume Internet Applications where fast information access equates to site revenue
- Enterprise Data Access where large numbers of applications can overwhelm NFS storage
- Scientific Modeling and Analysis that require large application memory space
MVX delivers an entirely new price to performance level for IT by dramatically improving the computing value achieved with existing infrastructure
- Improve utilization of memory and CPU resources by as much as 40%
- Reduces the need for CPU, memory, and storage over-provisioning
- Lowers IT operational costs by extending server lifecycle and reducing management overhead
- Decreases datacenter power consumption and reduces demand for space
Transparent Solution, No Application Changes

Servers can contribute RAM as Memory Hosts, or can access shared RAM as Memory Guests,
or can play both roles at once.
Memory virtualization combines memory across servers into a large, distributed, private cloud service – a memory cloud – that can be transparently delivered to applications in one of two forms: a virtualized networked file system or a virtualized physical storage device. This is ultra-fast: memory cloud access is in microseconds (as little as 1.7 us to be exact) vs. the tens-of-milliseconds access times with standard storage, throughput of 3 Gb / second and capacities up to tens of terabytes. It is common to achieve results up to 25X faster.

Memory Cloud Capabilities
Memory from the memory cloud can be utilized in one of three ways: as extended server memory (memory motion), as a storage accelerator (memory cache), or as ultra high-speed storage in the compute tier (memory store).
In every case, MVX makes the memory cloud both transparent and simple to use with existing applications. The new memory is accessed just like existing storage – as a networked file system or as a physical block device. The memory virtualization takes care of the rest. The result is that applications can gain a speed-up without architectural changes or additional coding.
